Nursery employees in Nepal receive relief packages

Nepal was hit by torrential rains that lead to devastating floods throughout the southern regions of the country. Some report it to be the worst flooding in decades. The floods and landslides affected thirty-three districts, more than 158 people have lost their lives, 43,000 families were forced to leave their homes, and 158,000 houses were partially damaged.

On August 14th, 2017, we learned that our field staff and project sites had been affected as well. Although many of our employees’ homes were damaged by the floods, fortunately, there was no loss of lives in the areas that we support.

Thanks to the support of many donors, we were able to provide even more urgently needed relief packages for nursery workers and their families. The packages reached 65 of the neediest families at three of our nursery sites: Laxmisthan, Sundarpur, and Pachim Deurali. Each relief package included warm clothes, blankets, cooking utensils, rice, and other items that were during the flood.

Many families were devastated by the flood, but through our supporters, we were able to provide for around 100 families.
